How did you get into this style of training?
I started doing functional fitness type training to facilitate my squash conditioning whilst studying at UJ in 2011. My trainer/close friend at UJ convinced me to do my CrossFit Level 1 at the end of 2011.
What was your first training experience (first class/intro) like?
I stepped into the gym at UJ and promptly got told to do 100 push ups, 100 pull ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats and let them know what my time was… I’m still busy completing that workout.
How long have you been coaching at The Bloc?
Since 2014!
What is your favourite thing about coaching at The Bloc?
The facility itself is unbelievable! And then we have the members. It’s fascinating how we have a membership base with such like-minded individuals, all very down to earth and supportive of each other. Lastly, my fellow coaches and colleagues – I really enjoy being around these people every working day.
If you could have any other job in the world, what would it be?
A biokineticist – I’m really lucky!
What are your favourite and least favourite WODs/movements?
I enjoy most hero wods, particularly wods like ‘The Seven’ or even our ‘12 Days of Christmas’, which have a large variety of movements. I can’t say I have least favourite movements, however movements such as the snatch and butterfly C2B really challenge me.
